Indonesian Virus

This is what a blogger will do whenever she has a very boring day - post random stuffs on her blog. Since it is random, I decided to write another shorties and just like previous posts (see : shorties), the title is inspired by another K-drama's title (yes, I'm a K-addict) called Beethoven Virus. Despite the randomness - I wish you a pleasant stay while watching reading the story of Indonesian Virus ala Traveler's Passport!

Wisma KBRI Berlin

Wisma KBRI Berlin
Today, I went to Wisma KBRI Berlin to celebrate the independence day of Indonesia. It was such an amazing day - because it was the first time to be having a national ceremony together with the Ambassador of Indonesia in Germany, Ministers, and also Indonesian citizens who reside in Germany. Plus, if I remembered that the last time I attended a ceremony was in . . . 2008 ?

The participants
and

The journalists

The ceremony was quite different from the ordinary ceremony which I attended during my school. Beside of the participants - who were dominated with important person (or maybe not?), there were also a choir group from GBI Berlin who sang several traditional songs like Yamko Rambe Yamko and Ibu Pertiwi (wait, what is the title?) and as the bonus for the loyal citizen who spent 2 hours to celebrate the independence day of their country, we got lontong, lemper and kue lumpur for us to be brought back home! Aww.

Indonesian Snacks <3
I felt blessed that I visitted Berlin at the right time. Even though the ceremony lasted for 2 hours, but through this ceremony I was reminded that no matter how far I travel, I am still an Indonesian and Indonesia is always be the real home for us, Indonesian travellers! :)

RR Tour at Wisma KBRI Berlin <3

The story did not end here - because I got the info that KBRI Berlin would held Halal Bi Halal to celebrate Idul Fitri just a minute before I left the building. But, Halal bi Halal was held on August 19th - and at that time I was in Stockholm - and there IS Indonesian embassy also in Stockholm that also is likely to held Halal Bi Halal at the same day. It was getting more interesting when I knew that KBRI Stockholm also held Halal Bi Halal on August 19th. So, let's move forward to August 19th!

Wisma KBRI Stockholm

Entrance to Wisma KBRI Stockholm

Another unbelievable thing that I could experienced during my visit in Stockholm - tasting ketupat sayur + sambal goreng daging + kerupuk udang + kue nastar + keripik singkong and other Indonesian foods! And not to forget - an honour to be able to greet the Ambassador of Indonesia in Swedia (So, I greeted 2 ambassadors in 2 countries in a week!)

The BEST lunch ever in Stockholm!

I was surprised that there are quite numbers of Indonesian in Swedia - even most of them are married with Swedish but still, Swedia is located like on the other part of the world! It was just simply amazing that I could find this large group of Indonesian in Swedia and I also met a Swedish who speaks Indonesian fluently. Wow.

To add the excitement - I could say that our wisma KBRI in Stockholm is a lovely place and feels like a home for us, Indonesian people! The location of the wisma also very nice - it is very green, peaceful and you could see this amazing view from the backyard of Wisma KBRI!

So, have you infected with Indonesian Virus? :)

All Around Europe : Grocery Stores

It is time to add another post for All Around Europe series . For today, I would like to review several grocery stores in Europe. The reviews will be based on my own Shopping O'meter scale and everything written here is based on my own experiences and opinions. :) #1 Shopping O'meter scale :  The place where everything could be found, touched, felt, seen,  and of course bought - whenever you need it, or not. :)  Comments :  Since Kaufland is only 5 minutes away from my office, I often do my grocery shopping here.  The shopping area is big.  The price is relatively low compared with others. The quality equals to what you paid. A suggested place to kill your boring time.  #2 Shopping O'meter scale :  Emergency grocery store for those who forget that shops are closed at 6 PM in Europe.  Comments : I often do my grocery shopping here because this is the last grocery store that still open until 10 ...

Postcard #1: Vatican

The one and only post office in Vatican Postcards and travelling are so closely related. I learned it for the first time when my friend told me that she has sent many postcards to Indonesia while she was staying in Germany. I laughed at her at first but the more I travel, I realized that even though postcards do not too popular in Indonesia, but it IS in other countries. And, postcards are the CHEAPEST authentic souvenirs you could buy wherever you are travelling! From this, I get an idea to write about my postcards in Traveler's Passport. It might look so boring, but I hope through this post I could spread the "postcards fever" to all travelers around the world! So, here is my first postcard in Europe - the one originated from Vatican. I sent it on July 2nd, 2012 from post office in Vatican. The price for each postcard is around 50 cent - 1 Euro and the stamps costed around 1.60 Euro. Since it was the first time, I sent three postcards to Indonesia a...

Menjelajahi Eropa Tengah Part II-A : Museum Auschwitz
